Find Sources

Also known as "Scholarly Articles," "Peer-Reviewed Articles," or "Academic Articles," these are:
  • Written and reviewed by scholars and provide new research, analysis, or information about a specific topic.
  • Usually focused on a narrow subject or a single case study
  • Intended for an academic audience

 

The following databases are a good place to find information on the field of marketing

Search  only The Wall Street Journal by putting the title in the second search field in ProQuest Newspapers.

 Unlike journal articles, scholarly books:
  •  Are written on a broader, general subject
  •   May contain a collection of related chapters by different authors
  •   Contain less recent information
Remember: you may only need to read one chapter of a scholarly book!

American Marketing Association – A membership organization that offers networking opportunities as well as scholarly research through publications seeking to enhance marketing opportunities and connecting its members to the resources they need for success.

Academy of Marketing Science –  This foundation is an international, scholarly, and professional organization. It is dedicated to the promotion of the highest standards  of marketing knowledge and to the advancement of sound marketing practices.

The Advertising Research Foundation –  Founded in 1936, the ARF has been in the forefront of quality research in the fields of advertising, media and marketing.

American Advertising Federation – Founded in 1905, the AAF has over 5000 student members and promotes the well being of advertising. this is accomplished with a  grassroots network of advertisers, agencies, media companies, local advertising clubs and college chapters. The site also offers a job center network.

Consumer Expenditure Surveys -  provides data on expenditures, income, and demographic characteristics of consumers in the United States.

Nielsen Audio - International media and marketing research firm serving the media—radio, television, cable and out-of-home; the mobile industry as well as advertising agencies and advertisers around the world. 

United States Census Bureau – A wealth of information on economic life in the United States.

Video Advertising Bureau - Downloadable profiles of cable networks that include data on viewership demographics and lifestyle.
